Preparing for Your Float Experience
Float therapy is a time to completely let go—to disconnect from stress, noise, and gravity itself. Preparing thoughtfully helps you get the most from your session.
What to Do Before You Arrive
-
Avoid caffeine or heavy meals for at least 2 hours before your float.
-
Remove contact lenses and jewelry before entering the float room.
-
Avoid shaving or waxing within 12 hours of your session—the salt may sting.Stay hydrated and use the restroom before floating.
-
Wait until tattoos are fully healed. Floating with a fresh tattoo can sting and may affect healing. Please allow at least two weeks, or until all scabs and peeling have resolved.
-
Be mindful of hair treatments and color.
-
Highlighted or lightened hair is generally okay after 48 hours, as long as it no longer rinses color.
-
Darker or natural colors should wait about 2 weeks to ensure color has fully set and does not transfer to a white towel.
-
Fashion colors (bright reds, pinks, blues, purples, etc.) may require up to 30 days before floating. These pigments can stain the float tank and may result in a cleaning fee of up to $1,000 if color transfer occurs.
-
Keratin treatments should not be exposed to salt water—floating will damage or remove the treatment.
-
What to Bring
Just yourself! We provide everything you’ll need—towels, earplugs, shampoo, body wash and conditioner. If you prefer your own brush or hair products, feel free to bring them.

A Calm Mindset
Give yourself permission to unwind. There’s no right or wrong way to float. Simply enter the water, breathe deeply, and allow your body and mind to relax into the experience.
Your First Float
When you arrive, our staff will walk you through everything you need to know. You’ll shower before your session, then step into your private float room filled with warm water saturated with Epsom salt—so dense that your body naturally floats, weightless and supported.

The lights dim. The world quiets. You can choose to float in silence or with soft music—the experience is entirely yours.

As you float, tension begins to melt away. Muscles release. Thoughts slow down. Your nervous system shifts into deep rest. Many people emerge feeling centered, lighter, and restored—both physically and mentally.

After your float, you’ll shower again and, when you're ready, re-enter the world slowly. Take your time. Enjoy a drink of water or tea, journal if you wish, and notice how you feel.

When Floating May Not Be Recommended
While floating offers deep relaxation and numerous wellness benefits, there are certain times when it may not be the best choice. Your safety and comfort are always our priority.

Open Wounds or Skin Conditions
The high salt concentration in the float water can cause discomfort or irritation. Please allow time for any cuts, abrasions, or skin conditions to heal before floating.

New Tattoos
We recommend waiting until your tattoo is fully healed—typically at least 4–6 weeks—to avoid irritation and protect your artwork from salt exposure.

Epilepsy or Seizure Disorders
If your condition is not well controlled, or if you have a history of seizures, floating may not be safe without medical clearance. Please consult your healthcare provider before booking.

Heart Conditions
Those with unstable or severe heart conditions should speak with their doctor before floating.

Kidney Disease
The body absorbs small amounts of magnesium from the Epsom salt solution, which may not be suitable for individuals with certain kidney conditions. Please check with your healthcare provider first.

How Often Should I Float?

It really depends on your goals and what you’d like to get out of your float experience—but one thing is consistent: the more regularly you float, the deeper the benefits become.

Many of our guests find that floating once a week to once a month helps them manage stress, anxiety, and overall well-being. Some people float more often for a short period—after an injury, during a big life change, or when they need focused recovery or creativity time. Others, like those managing chronic pain or practicing mindfulness, build floating into their regular routine as a core part of their self-care.

At Circle of Life Massage & Wellness, our goal is to help you discover how floating can best support you. To truly understand how your body and mind respond, we recommend starting with our Float Starter Series—three floats within your first 3–4 weeks. Your first float introduces you to the experience; your second and third allow you to relax more deeply and begin to notice lasting effects like improved sleep, reduced tension, and a calmer nervous system.

Our memberships are designed to make regular floating easy and affordable, helping you turn this practice into a meaningful part of your wellness routine. Most clients find that 2–4 floats per month provide the ideal rhythm for maintaining relaxation, focus, and balance.

How We Keep Our Float Water Crystal Clean

Naturally Clean by Design
The high concentration of Epsom salt in our float tanks creates an environment where bacteria and contaminants simply can’t survive—much like the natural purity of the Dead Sea.

Thorough Filtration Between Every Float
After each session, the entire float solution is filtered and purified three times through a one-micron filtration system—fine enough to capture particles 100 times smaller than a human hair.

Advanced Oxidation Process (AOP)
As the water circulates, it’s treated with a gentle but powerful combination of UV light, ozone, and hydrogen peroxide. Together, these elements create the Advanced Oxidation Process, which neutralizes bacteria, viruses, and other impurities quickly and effectively.

Ongoing Quality Monitoring
Our team continuously tests and monitors the water to ensure it meets the highest standards of safety and clarity.

Your health and comfort are always our top priorities. This multi-step sanitation process keeps every float tank pristine—so you can relax completely, knowing you’re in a clean and carefully maintained environment.

A Few Important Guidelines

We truly appreciate your mindfulness in helping us keep our float environment clean, safe, and enjoyable for everyone. For the well-being of all our guests, please take note of the following:

Bodily Fluids
To maintain the purity of our float tanks, please refrain from floating if you experience incontinence or have any condition that could introduce bodily fluids (such as spitting or mucus) into the water. If contamination occurs, a cleaning and salt replacement fee of up to $1,000 may apply.

Intoxication
For your safety and the comfort of others, floating while under the influence of alcohol or drugs is not permitted. Substances can impair your balance, awareness, and ability to safely navigate the float environment.

Contagious Illness
If you’re feeling unwell or may be contagious, please stay home and take the time you need to rest. We’re happy to reschedule your appointment at no charge. Your health—and the health of our community—comes first.
